Ways to Jazz Up Your Website Part 2
After you have worked out on your content, the next thing to work on is your site layout. It is important that you make a good presentation of your website. This is a must since the first thing that you have to capture is your surfer’s attention, and then the reading will follow. Your very first page should contain your site’s most important content then a good set of supporting details has to be placed after it. Next, you have to consider the size and resolution of your text and images to make sure that it will be seen by your surfers. Knowing that some may use other browsers that may not be compatible with yours, you have to look for ways that it can be seen by various users no matter what.
The color of your text and background should match and complement your content. Avoid using pop-ups since a lot of people might mistake them for spasm or spy wares. Your fonts should not be too big or too small. If you prefer to use different fonts within a page, make sure that they are not distracting and that there are only a few variations.
For the graphics, it is recommended that you only use .JPG or .GIF formats. Make sure that your graphics aren’t too big so that they don’t hamper loading time and that they won’t take up the entire screen.
For the links, you have to make sure that they are descriptive and give the user an idea where they will be directed. Also, don’t confuse your surfers by underlining words that aren’t links (most surfers are used to seeing underlined words as links). Most of all, ensure that all of your links are working and that they don’t direct your surfers to dead pages or pages that are under maintenance.
